Start Here

First things first: let’s get to know each other (it’s good practice, because Newfoundlanders will want to know who knit ya—aka, all about you—as soon as you arrive). Think of it as our first date: we’ll learn a bit about each other and see if we’re a good fit. Planning travel is fun, but not when your date has spinach in their teeth.

Next we’ll get to scheming: with your guidance, we’ll craft a trip in Newfoundland that’s entirely unique. This doesn’t mean a few clicks of the mouse to spit out a tour package. Rather, it involves invoking our network of aunties, neighbours, and favourite fixers to craft your trip. Coastal homes will be prepared. Cars will be arranged. The band will rehearse. Teapots will be polished. This all takes time and thought, and works best when we start far in advance.

Before you know it, you’re packing your bags in anticipation. You’ll be well prepared, and have everything you need for a proper good time. By the time your feet land on the Rock, the only thing left to do is to be swept into the moment.

How it works (long story short)

  • Tell us about you, and we’ll tell you about us.

  • If the stars align, we’ll plan your trip together.

  • We’ll take care of all the details, tip to tail.

  • You’ll have a right good time in Newfoundland.

WHAT IT COSTS

  • From CA$750 per person per day

  • Plus planning fee of CA$500 per trip

Adventures

Go Where You Want To Go

With spontaneity as your compass and your energy as your limit, your adventure will introduce colourful people and uncommon places in an environment unlike anywhere in the world.

A Cape Race adventure is not about churches and stained glass windows or dusty museums with do-not-touch rules. It’s not about everyone holding onto the rope. It’s about people and places. It’s about unravelling stories and belly laughs. It's about the curious traveller and unscripted travel experiences.

It’s Not Swag, It’s Swagger

The Traveller's Diary: A bookstore-quality Guidebook written annually by Cape Race to match your travel style

This is your secret weapon. We’ve spent a lifetime nurturing friendships and cultivating real connections in the local community, from educators and fisherfolk to marine biologists and quilters. Hunting out the best hidden corners and the most delicious morsels is not only our job, it’s in our blood.

We’re also a bit nostalgic for old-school travel guides, the ones we’d buy before a big trip and pore over before departure. By the time the landing gear touched down, the book was already dogeared with possibilities. The book got you out of the airport and where you were going. You read it in bed, plotting out the next days’ antics, and peeked at it when you had a moment on a bench. You made notes in the margins and stuck ticket stubs and postcards between the pages, adding a feather as a keepsake. You knew where to go for the hand-churned blueberry ice cream and the live accordion matinée, so (maybe) you shared the intel with other travellers. Your guide book gave you travel swagger.

We don’t print millions of our Traveller’s Diary; we print a few dozen, so you won’t be fighting for a seat at the accordion matinée. You won’t lose your way, even if you lose signal on your mobile phone. You might come from away, but no one will ever know. Best kind!

...Things you (Cape Race) have done involving people are truly trailblazing. I don’t know of anyone, anywhere that has figured out such a great way to get tourists in contact with local people...
